Mission Statement

Alma's school counseling program will develop and provide comprehensive developmental guidance that supports students' academic, career, and personal/social development. Working collaboratively with families and the community to establish a desire to learn, provide academic excellence, and promote a lasting appreciation of knowledge, which will develop successful, respectful, and responsible citizens.

Program Goals

At the elementary level, the guidance and counseling program promotes personal, social, and academic skills that are necessary to be successful. It emphasizes responsible decision-making, coping strategies, self-understanding, and career development.

Student Competencies

Student competencies will follow the ASCA National Model Mindsets and Behaviors and Student Standards as well as the South Carolina Developmental Guidance and Counseling Model Standards.
